Trust Talks - The Science of Saving Koalas
Aug 21, 2025, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Join us for a special Trust Talks event exploring groundbreaking science in the fight to save Australia’s koalas.
Koala admissions at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital have soared over the past 30 years, with over 60% linked to the devastating disease chlamydia. In response, the hospital launched a world-first koala vaccine research program in 2020, now vaccinating every koala treated before release.
Hear from Dr Michael Pyne OAM (Currumbin Wildlife Hospital), Professor Ken Beagley (QUT), and Dr Lyndall Hulse as they share cutting-edge conservation efforts, from vaccine development to genetic research.
Don’t miss this rare chance to hear from the experts leading one of Australia’s most important wildlife initiatives.
An optional private tour of the Discovery Centre and Wild State exhibition is included after the talk.
